Urban7 Heads of Delegation Dialogue launches in Paris, marking start of 2026 Mayors’ Declaration process
Mayors and city representatives from G7 countries and beyond convened today in Paris for the Urban7 (U7) Heads of Delegation Dialogue, launching discussions on the 2026 U7 Mayors’ Declaration and reinforcing the role of cities in global decision-making.
Hosted at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, the Dialogue marks the beginning of the political process leading to the U7 Mayors’ Summit, to be held on 3–4 June 2026 in Nancy under the French G7 Presidency.
The 2026 process builds on a significant milestone: for the first time, Urban7 has been formally recognised as an official G7 Engagement Group. This recognition is already reflected in the G7 process, including in the outcomes of the 2026 Environment Ministers’ Meeting, which acknowledge the role of cities in advancing key priorities such as the G7’s Resilient, Efficient and Resource-wise Production (RER4P) agenda.
The U7 Mayors’ Summit in Nancy will bring together local leaders from Europe, Asia, North and Latin America and beyond to consolidate their contributions into a joint declaration. European cities are expected to play a central role, sharing experience on climate neutrality, resilience and inclusive development.
At a time when implementation happens locally, the Urban7 continues to ensure that global agendas are grounded in urban realities.
