U7 partners join meeting of G7 senior urban development officials in Rome

U7 Secretariat

Last week, the Italian Presidency of the G7 on Sustainable Urban Development organised a meeting in Rome between Senior Urban Development Officials from all G7 countries in order to prepare the Urban Development Ministers’ Meeting. Alongside partners like UN-HABITAT and OECD, the Urban7 (U7) partners took active part in the three day discussions (20-22 May)  through ICLEI Europe Regional Director, Wolfgang Teubner and the Italian network of municipalities, Associazione Nazionale Comuni Italiani (ANCI). The meeting focused in particular on urban development and the opportunities and challenges faced by cities, as well as cooperation and concerted action frameworks for cities in G7 countries and the world to aid in the sustainable urban transformation.

The meeting came ahead of the G7 Ministerial meeting on Urban Sustainable Development currently set for 3-5 November in Genova, for which  a parallel U7 Summit is planned to raise the voice of cities in the process.
